A Private Golf Club in Fort Lauderdale

Grande Oaks is a private golf club nestled in a quiet corner of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Our private club offers a refuge for our members who enjoy unparalleled service and uncompromising quality in a world of private luxury.

The History of Grande Oaks

Grande Oaks began its long and storied history in 1959 as Rolling Hills Country Club, one of South Florida’s first, and best, golf courses. Although it was not yet a private golf club, for many of South Florida's social elite, it was the place to be seen. Through the years, Rolling Hills Country Club played host to a number of notable people, including Jackie Gleason, George C. Scott, Johnny Unitas, and Joe "Willie" Namath.

Between 1979 and 1980, the film Caddyshack was filmed here, bringing its own cast of notables. From that point on, the Club was known as "The Home of Caddyshack" and the Caddyshack and Gopher Invitationals were held here.

It wasn't until 1999, when the Club was purchased by entrepreneur and avid golfer Wayne Huizenga, that Grande Oaks was born.

Built on 190 acres of the original 360-acre property, Grande Oaks Golf Club retains much of the charm inherited from Rolling Hills, including a grove of old-growth oaks, and the feeling of quiet seclusion that washes over you the moment you pass through our gates.

A New Era of Private Luxury

When he purchased the club, Wayne Huizenga tapped the celebrated golfer and golf course designer Raymond Floyd to fully redesign the golf course, and the architectural firm Garcia Brenner & Stromberg to design and build the clubhouse. The result is we have today – a private golf club that serves as a sanctuary for our members, and a revelation for those lucky enough to discover it during one of the many private events held here.

Today, Grande Oaks is owned by Nova Southeastern University, which is fully committed to preserving its legacy of excellence as South Florida's foremost private golf club. Thanks to this relationship, Grande Oaks is now home to the NSU Sharks Men's and Women's Golf teams, both of which are NCAA Division II National Champions.
